The TJX Companies: A Quarter Century of Engagement
The TJX Companies, Inc. is one of The Dimock Center’s most dedicated corporate partners. Through significant sponsorship of Steppin’ Out, engagement in the Road to Wellness 5K Walk/Run, programmatic grants for Child and Family Services, Board leadership and Employee Service Days, TJX helps make an impact on more than 17,000 low-income individuals and families each year.
Since the partnership began in 1992, TJX’s efforts have had a marked effect at Dimock. In particular, the company’s efforts have helped provide critical resources for Head Start, Early Head Start, Early Intervention and Adult Education programs, which increase access to education and promote positive development for over 900 children and families this year. TJX’s support also helps us connect these families to primary and specialty care in our health center and behavioral health programs.
In 2017, Dimock is proud to mark two milestones: 25 years of our special partnership with TJX and the 30th Anniversary of Steppin’ Out, our annual multi-cultural gala, which engages Boston’s leaders with Dimock, raises vital funds for our work and welcomes outstanding entertainment. We are thrilled that TJX is the Dr. Susan Dimock Presenting Sponsor of the 30th Anniversary Steppin’ Out. TJX’s sponsorship will help to ensure that Dimock strengthens our integrated model of health and education services, seamlessly linking children and families to the care and support they need across campus. We are very pleased to welcome a number of TJX colleagues to the 30th Anniversary Gala Committee to share their expertise and energy in planning this year’s event.
“The TJX/Dimock relationship is a model partnership,” says Dr. Myechia Minter-Jordan, Dimock’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Our work together impacts Dimock on many levels, from ensuring that babies, toddlers and their families have access to outstanding early education and support to providing leadership and insight on our Community Foundation Board and beautifying our campus. We are deeply grateful for this very special relationship.”
Sheraton Boston Hotel
STARWOOD CARES FOR THE COMMUNITY
We are thrilled to announce The Dimock Center’s newest corporate partner: The Sheraton Boston Hotel, a 1,220-room Starwood property situated in the heart of the city. In 2015, our annual Steppin’ Out Gala returned to the hotel after a decade away. Our return was met with great success and wonderful feedback from guests, thus launching our strong partnership.
The Sheraton Boston has adopted The Dimock Center as one of its three priority organizations in the “Starwood Cares for the Community” program. A global associate program designed to support and encourage volunteerism in local communities, “Starwood Cares for the Community” aims to harness Starwood’s global reach and drive meaningful impact on the local level.
In 2015, the hotel donated a significant number of toys for our Holiday Drive, contributed by associates throughout the organization, which were distributed to the families Dimock serves. This generous support ensured a very special holiday for hundreds of children. We are grateful that the Sheraton will participate in the Holiday Drive again this year.
The Sheraton Boston also held several volunteer days of service at The Dimock Center, helping to beautify our campus. We welcomed the first group last spring, comprising the Sheraton Catering and Events team, to spread mulch, plant shrubs and clean the area in front of the John Flowers Recovery Home, which provides housing and supportive service to 20 men in recovery from substance abuse. The second group, hotel managers, volunteered last fall, preparing the campus for winter.
Our partnership has expanded in 2016. We are grateful to have the Sheraton Boston not only as a corporate team at our 2nd Annual Road to Wellness 5K Walk/Run, but also as a featured participant for the food tent at the event’s Health and Fitness Pavilion. And of course, the Sheraton Boston will be the host of the 29th Annual Steppin’ Out event on November 5!
We are proud of our growing partnership with the Sheraton Boston and thankful for its special support of The Dimock Center and the community.
“The Dimock Center’s mission to improve the health and well-being of those residents needing extra support resonates with us and strongly aligns with our hotel’s values,” said Angela Vento, General Manager at the Sheraton Boston. “We believe in doing the right thing and making Boston a Better Place. Working with The Dimock Center is a natural partnership for the Sheraton Boston.”
Red Sox Foundation
Delivering Change with Purpose
We are inspired by our partnership with The Red Sox Foundation, which spans almost two decades. A highlight was welcoming Boston Red Sox Owner John Henry to our campus in 2004. Since then, The Dimock Center has been honored to be one of the Foundation’s five cornerstone programs in supporting the health, education, recreation, and social service needs of children and families in Boston. Through our collaboration, The Red Sox Foundation has contributed transformative support for The Dimock Center’s comprehensive programs and significantly upgraded our physical spaces. We are extremely grateful for our partnership and commend The Red Sox Foundation for their commitment to creating positive change in our community.
Dimock has been the site of several Red Sox Foundation Nation Service Days, which made a major overhaul to one of our children’s facilities and significant updates to our detox facility possible. At the detox center, the group cleaned and painted the men’s unit, including bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a hallway and the community room. In addition to the men’s unit, volunteers also painted six bedrooms in our Mary Eliza Mahoney Family Shelter and a hallway in our women’s detox unit.
Over the years, we’ve had tremendous support from the Red Sox Foundation and continue to be grateful for their partnership and dedication to The Dimock Center and our mission to heal and uplift individuals, families and our community.
“We are proud to work with The Dimock Center to effect positive change in children and teens from Boston’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. Through our collaboration, we see the impact on generations of families. This is incredibly meaningful to the entire Red Sox organization.”
