In today’s ever-changing world, The Dimock Center’s Adult Basic Education (ABE)/General Educational Development (GED) program has proven to be an important and valuable resource in obtaining the necessary skills for success on the GED test and in their lives moving forward. For more than 30 years, the Dimock Workforce Development has operated education and training programs to improve the quality of life of its students and their families. These programs are offered as a free resource for qualified applicants.
How We Work
Our programs are offered throughout the year at Dimock’s main campus in Roxbury. We help students prepare for all aspects of the GED test, and help students complete an educational and career plan that will ensure continued progress, serving as a roadmap to success in future careers, job training programs and college. Students will gain skills to ensure progress towards their larger career and college goals.
Our level of instruction goes beyond what is required for success on the GED. There are skills, however, that are critical towards future success; skills such as communication, information processing, critical thinking and problem solving. Our Adult Basic Education programs help students struggling with reading, writing, and math skills to ensure success in the GED program.
At Dimock there are a variety of options to help you achieve your GED and plan for your future. Adult Education classes are held from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Evening and on-line distance learning classes are also available. All students are assessed and placed in the appropriate level based on their academic readiness.
Individualized Education Plans, progress reports, and educational and career plans are all used to check in on a student’s progress and to further clarify future plans and goals.
