A conversation with Boston Medical Center
- What inspired BMC to support Building the Road to Recovery?
As caregivers, we at Boston Medical Center are acutely aware of the dire need for more and better addiction treatment services for the patients and communities we serve. The Dimock Center plays a pivotal role in meeting a broad range of community health needs, and when the opportunity arose to support Dimock’s important work in expanding addiction recovery services we leapt at it as an effective way to bring vital new resources on line.
- Why is supporting substance use disorder treatment important to you/your organization?
As enormously challenging as the current addiction epidemic is, we also know from our own experience at Boston Medical Center that addiction is a disease that can be treated effectively, and our clinicians have pioneered novel approaches to do just that. What’s key is making sure that patients have access to treatment where and when they need it and a pathway to long-term recovery. Having that continuum of care extend to community based partners like The Dimock Center is a key element in our collective effort to win the battle against addiction.
- Please describe what makes your relationship with The Dimock Center special.
The Dimock Center and Boston Medical Center share a very deep commitment and common approach to the health of the communities we serve that extends back over 150 years. As partners, we work together to meet a wide range of community needs, and that deep relationship is an important tool in improving the health and lives of local families.
