The Dimock Difference Leadership Award – 2017

David Meeker, M.D.
Former Executive Vice President and Head of Sanofi Genzyme

The Dimock Center is honored to present this year’s Dimock Difference Leadership Award to David Meeker, M.D., Former Executive Vice President and Head of Sanofi Genzyme. Dr. Meeker has been instrumental in forging a strong partnership between The Dimock Center and Sanofi Genzyme, two organizations that share a common purpose: to build trust and deliver hope to the patients they serve. As one of The Dimock Center’s significant Corporate Partners and supporters of our $16 million Building the Road to Recovery Capital Campaign to rebuild our inpatient detoxification facility, Sanofi Genzyme’s commitment has a tremendous impact on our work to heal and uplift individuals and families in our community. Our partnership also includes an innovative fellowship opportunity for Sanofi Genzyme colleagues to contribute their expertise to support Dimock Center priority projects organization-wide.

Dr. Meeker joined Genzyme in 1994 as Medical Director to work on the Cystic Fibrosis Gene Therapy program. Subsequently, as Vice President, Medical Affairs, he was responsible for the development of rare disease therapies that today represent transformative and life-saving advancements in medicine for patients. Prior to the merger with Sanofi in 2011, Dr. Meeker was Chief Operating Officer and in October 2011 he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Genzyme, a Sanofi company. Dr. Meeker left Sanofi Genzyme in June 2017. He is now CEO of KSQ therapeutics, a company using functional genomics to develop transformative medicines based on a precise understanding of disease biology. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Boston Private Industry Council and the Biomedical Science Careers Program, two organizations focused on expanding career opportunities for high school and college students.

Dr. Meeker’s compassion for others is inspiring. He is a role model whose dedication to making The Dimock Center and our communities stronger and healthier will have an impact on many for years to come. We are deeply grateful for his support and are honored to call him a Dimock Difference Leader.
